Severe Weather Potential for Monday across the Southern Plains

March 23, 2018 By dmoran

Just took a quick look at the models while I’m here in my home office and wanted to do a quick update on the severe weather potential for Monday across the Southern Plains. An upper level trough will move across the western US through the weekend and early next week. At the surface, a dryline will develop across the Southern High Plains Monday afternoon across western portions of Texas and Oklahoma. This dryline will be the focus for the development of thunderstorms. Here is the SPC outlook for Monday.

With any storms that develop, large hail and damaging winds will likely be the primary hazards, but an isolated tornado risk cannot be ruled out. I will continue to monitor and provide future updates.
